Home Hope Thuresson aiming high |
|
The 20years Filip Thuresson from Uddevalla started like any toddler any time, when he was at the age of six had her first PW80. Today he is Sweden's biggest success in motocross, and before the World Cup on Glimmingen he aims at the upper field. It was the age of six that Philip had his first motocross, a PW80. - I would have started earlier, but I did not for mom. Four years later, Philip run the junior competitions, and the age of ten he won including the Little Ship Cup running in Kungshamn. 2008 he became the youngest ever to win this year's total victory in the Championship, 17 years old, when he drove in MX2 class. - I remember well when I was little and it was in Uddevalla and watched the World Cup. It was fantastic to see all the great drivers run, and even all around. In 2007, when Philip was only 16 years old, he was given for the first time a starting place in the World Cup on Glimminge Motorstadion in Uddevalla. - It was an incredible feeling to be one of those standing behind the gate just before the race was restarted. Philip says that nervousness and performance anxiety is much greater when you drive on home course, but it still is someone he has grown accustomed to over the years. The best thing about running the VM in Uddevalla, is that he has such great support from the audience, he says. Last year there was no World Cup for Philip's part, when he was forced to give up driving for a while due to a shoulder surgery. But this year he is aiming high. - How to get points in both heats, I see as a must. But to get a good placement, and not just lies on the border points, that's what I'm aiming for this year, says Philip with great anticipation for the largest motocross event 2011th |
